Goodwood Revival History
The first Goodwood Revival meeting was held in 1998. The Duke of Richmond decided it was time to recreate a golden era of historic motor racing that the circuit had famously hosted in the 1950s and 1960s. The circuit required too many modifications to allow modern racing to continue. Consequently, the last official race took place in 1966 and the circuit was no longer used. Fast forward to today and the Goodwood Revival has been running regularly for over 20 years. The event has grown to become an unmissable fixture on the historic motor racing calendar.
What’s on over the weekend
The event starts on Friday with a first chance to see all the vehicles and aircraft on display. The opening day concludes with the Kinrara Trophy evening race. Saturday consists of several rounds of qualifying and six official races. The off-track attractions come to life ensuring this a day with something for everyone. Motorsport dominates proceedings on Sunday with eight races in the programme. The St Mary’s Trophy and the Barry Sheene Trophy races provide a thrilling finale to the weekend.
