Whether you’re staying in West Sussex for the first time or are a seasoned visitor to the area we’re confident that you’ll find lots of great experiences for the whole family. 1. Outdoor Adventures

Get back to nature with a visit to one of the many nature reserves, working farms and animal parks in the county.

Bird watchers will love RSPB Pagham Harbour. It is a very tranquil place. Great for bird spotting and walking in nature. It’s very popular with families as there is plenty to do with children.

At the Arundel Wetland Centre you can enjoy seeing a wide range of captive water birds as well as an abundance of wild birds too. There’s also a great cafe here which serves a nice latte and a good choice of food. Visitors can also enjoy beautiful views of Arundel Castle

At Coombes Farm you can get a flavour of a real working farm. See lambs and calves being born and take part in feeding the pet lambs. Visitors can also enjoy tractor rides to the top of the downs
Kingley Vale Nature Reserve

For an up close adventure book an experience day at West Sussex Falconry. The birds of prey here are very well cared for and the experience of holding them and having them flying to you for food is incredible.

2. Stunning Gardens

If you love visiting fabulous stately homes and gardens you’ll be spoilt for choice when in visiting West Sussex. Denmans Garden is made up of a series of intimate spaces and features faux river beds, a walled garden, conservatory, and a variety of unusual plants, some semi-tropical. The curving paths here allow you to explore the garden and keep your eye moving gently through the gardens.

Uppark House and Garden is uniquely placed in a stunning hilltop location on the South Downs. Now managed by the National Trust Uppark House was built in the 17th Century and restored to its former glory after a fire in 1989. It’s a great house to explore and the parkland it sits in is beautiful.

West Dean Gardens are just a short drive from our park. Visitors can enjoy the wonderful gardens, expansive walled gardens and green houses which you are welcome to meander through. If you are taking a picnic there is a lovely big grassy area to stop for lunch.

3. Fresh Local Seafood

If you’re a fan of seafood you’ll enjoy the wide range of fresh shell fish and fish available in the county. Much of it it caught locally and sustainably. Some notable local seafood restaurants near to our West Sussex campsite include The Crab and Lobster, Cassons Restaurant and Billy’s on the Beach.

If you want to go the extra mile and get a bait to plate experience Fin & Forks offer guests fishing and cookery experience days. Individuals, couples and small groups, can choose from a boat, shore or fly fishing session before a hands-on afternoon of cooking and eating your catch at the Fins & Forks kitchen.

4. Fascinating Museums

Take a trip back in time and experience West Sussex as it was for past generations at one of the fabulous museums in the area.

Discover the working past in the south at the Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre. Here you can take a ride on a narrow gauge railway and vintage bus. There are lots of interactive exhibits with push buttons to activate. Perfect for keeping all ages occupied!

Take a visit to the Weald and Downland Living Museum be transported back in time. This is not only the home of the BBC TV show The repair shop but also showcases how things were made in the past and how we lived and changed with the times. All the staff here are helpful and very knowledgeable, they pride themselves on having over 400 volunteers. Great place for the kids and plenty of open spaces.

5. Relaxing at a Cosy Pub

Pub visits are West Sussex experiences we can really get on board with! We’re fortunate to be surrounded by a number of fabulous pubs.

In the cooler months you can find a nice cosy sofa to sink into next to an open fire. In the summer sit out in the beer gardens and soak up the sunshine. Close to our West Sussex campsite is the Fox and Hounds in Funtington, The White Swan is Bosham and the White Horse in Chilgrove. The great news for everyone staying with us is that you can get 10% off your bills when dining at these three lovely local pubs.
